What is an inverter and what is its purpose?

Photovoltaic inverter is a power adjustment device composed of semiconductor devices, mainly used to convert DC power into AC power. Simply put, an inverter is an electronic device that converts low voltage (12V/24V/48V) direct current into 220V alternating current.

We usually convert 220V AC power into DC power for use, and the function of the inverter is the opposite, hence the name.

In daily life, we not only need low-voltage direct current, but also 220V alternating current to meet more electricity needs, and inverters can achieve this goal. It is also known as the “heart” of photovoltaic systems and plays a crucial conversion role.

What characteristics do inverters need to possess?

Firstly, high efficiency. If you want to maximize the utilization of the electricity generated by solar panels and improve the conversion efficiency of the entire photovoltaic system, it is closely related to the efficiency of the photovoltaic inverter.

Secondly, good stability. Many inverters are used in photovoltaic power plants in remote areas with relatively few maintenance times, which requires inverters to have accurate circuit structures, strict component screening, and multiple protection functions to be able to operate continuously and stably.

Thirdly, strong adaptability. Because the battery terminal voltage in photovoltaic systems changes with uncertain factors, inverters should be able to effectively cope with moderately changing operating voltages.
