Precautions for installing photovoltaic systems

01 What electrical safety precautions should be noted during the installation of a photovoltaic system?

First, photovoltaic modules are “powered when there is light”, so everyone needs to remember that it is impossible to completely power off photovoltaic modules in sunny environments. In addition, due to the accumulation of series voltage, the corresponding voltage to ground will also increase.

Secondly, due to the first factor, this requires us to strictly comply with the installation and operation instructions provided by the photovoltaic module supplier during the installation process, and it is best to have professional installation personnel perform the installation.

Third, do not disconnect the electrical connection under load.

Fourth, insulating tools should be used to install photovoltaic modules, and no metal jewelry should be worn.

Fifth, the plug should be kept dry and clean, and other metal objects should not be inserted into the plug, or electrical connections should be made in any other way.

Sixth, unless the electrical connection of the module is disconnected and you are wearing personal protective equipment, you cannot touch or operate photovoltaic modules with damaged backplates, peeling frames, and broken glass.

Seventh, unless components are cleaned in accordance with the requirements of the component cleaning manual, otherwise, wet components should not be touched.

Eighth, when not wearing personal protective equipment or rubber gloves, the wiring plug should not be touched once it becomes wet.

02 Will there be electric leakage during the installation of the photovoltaic system, which poses a danger to people?

To install a photovoltaic system, on the one hand, professional personnel strictly abide by the installation and operation instructions for photovoltaic modules, and wear professional protective equipment for installation, which can play a strong defensive role;

On the other hand, professional connectors are generally used for the wiring part of photovoltaic equipment, with a high level of protection. Electrical equipment is also protected by air switches, which can effectively prevent system leakage.

It can be seen that under multiple guarantees, the process of installing a photovoltaic system under normal conditions does not pose a risk due to electrical leakage.

03 Which components need to be grounded when installing a photovoltaic system?

We recommend that when installing a photovoltaic power generation system, all metal components and equipment enclosures should be grounded, such as photovoltaic modules, photovoltaic module brackets, inverter enclosures, and grid boxes.

Photovoltaic modules will have prefabricated grounding holes that can be directly connected in series to the grounding terminal for protective grounding. The grounding terminal of the inverter can be grounded separately or in parallel with the base line of the grid connected cabinet.

After the system is installed and before trial operation, an insulation tester and megger should be used for testing. The insulation test should be conducted by two electrical personnel.
